I am privileged to be a part of the Taken Charitable trust and to co-ordinate a team of talented and passionate people to help make this a reality. My goal in life, as with this trust, is to help make a difference in this world that we live. It is the small things that we all do that contribute to making our communities and our world a better place to live.

I was born and raised in Feilding and now live in the sunny Hawkes bay with my wife Wendy. We had lived in Christchurch for 12 years so we do appreciate the warmer climate. We enjoy walking and biking, and with plenty of sunshine hours in the Bay there is little excuse for not getting out on the abundance of trails and taking in the local scenery. Grandchildren are a new joy in our lives.

My husband Alan and I have been married for 38 years (2015). We have three amazing children (and now grandchildren). We have faced many challenges and while we have worked in a church pastoral role and I have also worked in pharmacy and with elderly people in the community my greatest privilege and joy is being a mother. My greatest joy and deepest sorrow as our son Andy was killed at the hands of another man in 2011. The depth of love, courage, resilience and faith have been etched into our lives. Taken is a place to collectively honour the lives of the people we love and miss every single day

Eric Borrie

Eric was introduced to the Taken Life Charitable Trust and felt an immediate affinity to the vision and objectives of the initiative. Eric saw that his skill set in accountancy, would help benefit the trust and wanted to assist with the development and setup of the organisation. “It’s a way to give back and support a meaningful community initiative, I truly believe in what the Taken Life Charitable trust is setting out to do. It is my pleasure to serve on the trust and contribute in this way” says Eric.

Eric returned to the Hawkes Bay to practice Chartered Accountancy in 1974 after completing his tertiary degree in Wellington. Eric and his wife Ros both enjoy the outstanding Hawkes Bay climate and all that the region has to offer. They have a grown family and grandchildren who also live in the region.
